Graduate Assistants

Keely Kelso is a recent graduate of Ole Miss where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. She was a member of the Ole Miss Concert Singers, Women’s Glee, and served as President of the Ole Miss ACDA Student Chapter. During her undergraduate years, she also served as a scholarship singer for Tupelo First Presbyterian Church. She is currently pursuing her Master of Music in Choral Conducting degree at the University of Mississippi.  kakelso@go.olemiss.edu

 

Stellah Mbugua comes from Nairobi, Kenya, where she taught at the Kenya Conservatoire of Music, was a mentor for Safaricom Choir, and performed and toured extensively with the Nairobi Chamber Chorus. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Music Education at the University of Mississippi, where she also obtained her masters in Choral Conducting degree. Stellah holds a bachelor of Music degree from Kenyatta University. She is an active member of ACDA, and a composer/arranger.  smmbugua@go.olemiss.edu

 

Ben Schneider is a new graduate from Drew University in New Jersey, where he served as assistant to the Choral and Vocal Studies Department, and as the Music Director of his student run collegiate a cappella group, 36 Madison Avenue. Originally from Connecticut, he is pursuing his Master’s of Music in Choral Conducting at the University of Mississippi.  bschnei1@go.olemiss.edu

 

Riley Smith most recently served as assistant choir director at Terry High School where he directed freshman choir, taught music appreciation, and helped direct the varsity choir and chamber choirs. Currently, he is pursuing a masters in Music Education at the University of Mississippi, where he also obtained his bachelors in Music Education. While teaching in the Jackson area, he continued building his musicianship skills by serving as bass section representative for The Mississippi Chorus, singing with the Jackson Choral Society, and being a member of American Choral Directors Association and Mississippi Music Educators Association.  rmsmith3@go.olemiss.edu

 

Jake South is a recent Ole Miss Graduate where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Music with a minor in Digital Media Studies. Jake was a member of Men’s Glee and the Ole Miss Concert Singers, as well as a member of the Pride of the South Marching Band and Ole Miss Wind Ensemble where he played trumpet.  Along with being a singer, Jake is also a composer and an arranger. Jake is currently pursuing a Masters of Music degree in Choral Conducting at Ole Miss.  jdsouth@go.olemiss.edu

 

Corey Yngsdal is an incoming graduate student from Durban, South Africa, where he served most recently as assistant choral director at Thomas More College and as well as one of the assistant conductors of the prestigious Kwa-Zulu Natal Youth Choir from 2010-2015. Having completed his Bachelors of Music degree in both Music Education and Piano Performance from California Baptist University in 2019 alongside teaching music theory, accompanying school and church choirs and privately teaching a few piano students from all around the Riverside area, he is now pursuing a Master of Music in Choral Conducting degree at the University of Mississippi.  cayngsda@go.olemiss.edu
